jery, gross costs are used to calculate dumping, not net costs. mu's net cost was close to $4.50 last q. if it wasn't then they wouldn't have made a paultry $0.04. add the $30 mil in depr/amort for this q and it was a loss of $0.11.

mu's gross cost last q was near $3 last q and may have been even lower. their net cost sure wasn't.

however, your logic is something that i've brought up before. some on this thread have said that foreign companies have admitted to production costs in the $4.00-$6.00 range - no sources, provided, of course ;-)

anyway, that wouldn't appear to be true using your logic. their gross costs are much lower than mu's net cost so they could avoid dumping charges and keep mu from ever making money again - if that is what they chose to do and they had the finances to play that game.

btw, what is you estimate for mu's asp for this q? their net cost will be around $4.00 to $4.30 (and i'm being nice :-)
