Neil,

I think U.S. Steel might have something to say about a takover since they own 54% (last count) of RMI's common stock.
RMI helped U.S. Steel (X) show the improvements in earnings they recently reported.
Do you think U.S. Steel will give up RTI at this stage of the game?
I'll lay odds that whoever started this rumor owns TIMET or Carpenter Steel.
I don't know why TIMET and RTI are trading so low to begin with, esspecialy RMI. A jump in eithers stock price dosn't suprise me.
I expect WYMN to jump sometime too. I can understand that they had an explosion last year that knocked out a major factory outside of Houston but they've been back on their feet for a while now.
Of all the market rumors I've heard, this one sounds like the most unlikely yet. I don't even think it's possible.
I don't pay to much attention to TIMET anymore because for all practical purposes they're owned by Boeing and they are really limited as to what they can do with the pricing agreement. That's not to say the Company won't make alot of money, I think there's alot of money to be made over the next several years in Titanium Mill products but I'd rather have a Company that can charge whatever the market demands for thier products and let the chips fall where they may and right now it looks to me like the chips are falling in favor of RTI.
From here on out I'm adopting the same policy on rumors that RTI and others have utilized and that is not to comment on them. Rumors can be like bear traps and I the best way not to lose a limb and suffer alot of agony is not to go near it after it's been set. These guy's that are spreading rumors can afford to be wrong. When it's someone's job to inform investors the best they know how, it's a different ball game.
This is B E Aerospace's thread too and it's not really fair for us to them to talk about TIMET rumors that could have been started by anyone for any reason.

Best Regards,

Harry
