I have witnessed in my over 40 years in the market so much purposeful misdirection intended to get the public out at the lows and in at the highs. The current misdirection about the airline industry even perpetuated by industry leaders themselves is that it’s going to take three years to get the airlines back to where they were pre-pandemic.

Since I am invested and continue to buy Boeing on the dips I can tell you they are using the pandemic to streamline their business model by offering incentives to get rid of the fat and they have used the rationale that it’s going to take years to get the company back.

Meanwhile they had no trouble borrowing double digit billions at low interest rates to keep the supply chain engine greased to hit the ground running when they get the green light to return to normal. These massive bond offerings are being snapped up with robust demand and maturities of up to 40 years.

So here they stand lean and mean with 10% of the workforce cut, supply chain intact and thousands of planes ready to go with demand to boot. The gov’t has established a safety net under the industry guaranteeing their ability to thrive on the back end of the pandemic.

The debt will no doubt be a drag on earnings but when can you get one of the greatest American companies at a 50% discount that is part of a worldwide duopoly and little need to spend to produce their core product because it sits idly fully assembled and ready to roll with minor tune-ups you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to see the value in buying.
