Three ideas :

1. Invest in Vanguard Index 500 Value in the Roth IRA, and complement it with investment in Vanguard Index 500 Growth in your taxable portfolio.

2. Invest equal amounts in the two "enhanced index funds" OSCGX and OSCVX ; the former tends to have high turnover while the latter generates high dividend income. Both are based on time-tested strategies that have beaten the S&P 500 over the long-term. See osfunds.com for details.

3. Invest in stocks that are good "total return" investments (stocks in which the overall returns are high because of re-invested dividends) such as Washington REIT (WRE), Philip Morris (MO) etc. Read "The Dividend Rich Investor" by Tigue and Lisanti, as well as "The America's Finest Companies Investment Plan", by Bill Staton (see statoninstitute.com), for more ideas.

And after the three "DO's", here is A BIG "DON'T" :

Never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever invest in penny stocks

Good Luck.

Dipy.
