1.Scangraphics' Unit, Sedona GeoServices, Inc. Announces City of Allentown, PA Contract Awards

LIMERICK, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 29, 1998--Sedona GeoServices, Inc., a subsidiary of Scangraphics (NASDAQ: SCNG), announced today that the city of Allentown, Pennsylvania, has awarded Sedona GeoServices, Inc. multiple contracts for data conversion services. These contracts represent Allentown's initial steps toward completion of an overall Geographic Information System (GIS) to improve infrastructure project planning and execution. Sedona GeoServices expects to play a major role in the implementation of Allentown's GIS future.

The City of Allentown's water system documentation is compiled from engineering drawings dating back to 1907. The documentation consists of paper blueprint basemaps where the water lines and water test annotations are represented in color ink. The City needs to separate the red information (water lines) and incorporate it into their up-to-date digital basemap to produce a current and accurate water system infrastructure database.

Sedona GeoServices developed a customized solution for the City of Allentown wherein Sedona GeoServices will scan and separate the color layers, edit redundant text/water lines, integrate the 225 maps, geo-reference the city-wide image to the Pennsylvania State Plan Coordinate System - South Zone, and deliver a final image oriented to the City's street grid. The geo-referenced basemap, raw scanning map and color line separations will then be archived onto CD-ROM.

The GIS Coordinator for the City of Allentown stated, "We selected Sedona GeoServices for this project because of the company's technical expertise and proven track record for timely delivery and accurate data. We are very pleased with their performance to date." Laurence Osterwise, President and CEO of Scangraphics said, "Sedona GeoServices is delighted to serve the City of Allentown and its citizens with our innovative technology, resulting in a savings of money and time. We look forward to a fruitful and expanding partnership."
