What you describe is a sample of an assault system that is often difficult to set up once the environment is aware of dangers. It has been used but it is difficult to simply back up a pick up and drop the tail gate without those who would be targets, to not be alarmed and ready.

Now, if the truck has been sitting and the shooters enter unseen at a a later date, the truck seems normal. The key to the idea is the escape.

Yesterday I ordered a Tikka in 25-06. This round stays supersonic to about 1200 yards. If you have a long range rifle, you don't need the pick up truck.

The typical 16" 5.56 AR15 is deadly to 300 yards and can be somewhat effective up to 600 yards. This is the gun the pick up truck was intended to help.

Personally, I wouldn't want to be laying in a pick up truck bed regardless of exit speed if somebody was shooting at that truck with a bullet traveling over 2,000 mph.

Give me some wooded hills and a camo net and if I need an exit in excess of my feet, I'd buy a ROKON.
