At the end of the day COVID-19 is a Virus and with any Virus, generally speaking, once you get it your body builds up Immunity to it so that you won't suffer its effects again provided it hasn't mutated, which unfortunately Viruses are able to do.

COVID-19 is not in the same "deadly category" as is the EBOLA Virus, for example. If one contracts EBOLA your chances of recovery are slim.

So from one perspective it could be said that the more of a population that get COVID-19 the sooner it will be "out of circulation" because there will be fewer and fewer of the population left who haven't contracted it, and there will be fewer of the population to pass it on. I believe that's referred to as a form of "Herd Immunity".

And unlike EBOLA, the recovery rate from COVID-19 is relatively High. In my part of the world, even with areas of high population density, the recovery rate from Confirmed cases is over 83% and the death rate is 2.1%. So for every 100 who contract COVID-19, 83 recover and only ~2 die from it.

The number of COVID-19 deaths in this country, over the last 7 months, is about 12900. Annually about 11000 people die here of Influenza, and that needs to be seen in the context that many get a Flu shot every year making them about 60% less likely to get the current Influenza strains in "circulation".

IMO Sweden adopted a far more sensible and pragmatic approach to COVID-19 than most other Western countries. As a result their daily death rates went down by about 95% in 4 months from their peak in April this year .....

A fair percentage of COVID-19 deaths in Sweden have occurred in care homes primarily for the aged. And I'd say that's in line with the now known fact that the elderly are the most vulnerable to COVID-19
