donsurber.blogspot.com They cannot stop Trump

Dan Moore, Trump Supporter.

The New York Times is panicking as the election nears because it still cannot find even one supporter of President Donald John Trump who will vote for Biden.

The flipped Trump supporter is the Holy Grail of American journalism today. No one has found one yet. But the Times tried to pass a Never Trumper off as a one in a piece on Sunday, "In Ohio, a Father and Stepdaughter Show the Political Shifts in the Trump Era."

The Times described the daughter-in-law as a lifelong Republican, and yet she did not vote for the Republican nominee in 2016.

The story also did not say if she voted against Obama or not when he ran. The story does say she has a Black Lives Matter sign in her car.

Dan Moore, the stepfather, was another story.

The Times reported, "Before Donald J. Trump began his first presidential campaign, Mr. Moore was a reliable Democrat who had twice voted for Barack Obama. Like legions of white union workers, he found Mr. Trump’s 2016 campaign pledge to shake up Washington appealing. He plans to vote for him again in November."

And therein lies the real story.

9% of Obama's voters voted for Donald Trump in 2016. Another 10% stayed home or voted third-party.

Donald Trump attracted enough of them to win. Biden's hope is that he can generate enthusiasm that Hillary didn't 4 years ago.

You know, the same Hillary who knocked him out of the race in 2008 and whom Obama picked over Biden in 2016.

Biden needs Trump voters to win.

The refusal of Obama and his party to take those deplorable dregs of society voters seriously is why I predicted 37 states in July.

Blowing off 62 million voters is a stunning arrogance worthy of Adlai Stevenson, who went 0-2 vs. Ike while keeping his nose in the air. Stevenson saw himself as an intellectual who was above the voting masses.

We the 62 million people elected Donald Trump in 2016. We are enough to do it again.

President Trump plays to his base and seeks to expand it.

Biden plays in his basement and seeks to expand it to the garden.

Wayne Allyn Root is optimistic.

He wrote, "Polls show an overwhelming majority of Americans don't want to defund police. They want law and order. They support police. Even 80% of black voters overwhelmingly disagree with defunding police.

"Does anyone with a brain or common sense think this is a good sign for Joe Biden or Democrats? Do you think all these Americans who support the police, want more law and order, and want more police funding are leaning to Law and Order Trump or Defund the Police Joe Biden?

"Polls show 83% of Americans support President Trump and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Dr. Ben Carson's ending of former President Obama's program designed to fill the suburbs with high-density low-income housing, bringing crime and drugs to the neighborhoods of suburban moms and dads."

And he wrote, "72% of likely voters are concerned about the growing violent protests nationwide. 62% say it will affect their vote. Do you think this is a good sign for Democrats who support the Black Lives Matter and Antifa movements and claim there is no violence?"

Then there are minority voters.

In 2016, President Trump won with 8% of the black vote and 27% of the Hispanic vote.

According to CNN, those numbers are significantly higher this time, as it found 33% of "people of color" in battleground states now support President Trump.
What?

That is unheard of.

Thanks to Barry Goldwater, no Republican has topped 32% black support in 64 years.

And while the press praised Biden's speech, Bill Maher said of the DNC, "Oh man, that thing, how do you describe it? It’s like, did you ever tune into the Jerry Lewis telethon at like 2:00 in the morning? It was a lot like that. But it accomplished what it had to accomplish. Joe Biden accepted the nomination this week in a high school library."

The DNC audience was almost as large as a telethon's at 2 a.m.

While 49% of Biden's voters are motivated by voting against President Trump, Twitchy noted, "Did anyone notice that President Trump’s impeachment ‘didn’t even warrant a mention’ at the Democratic convention?"

The impeachment was a loser.

Russian Collusion was a loser.

The Mueller investigation was a loser.

After a while, fans get tired of losing and fade away. Ask a Browns fan how fun it was to go 1-31 in 2016 and 2017.

Covid 19 is another loser for Democrats.

Just the News reported, "As Democrats and their presidential nominee Joe Biden gear up to attack the president's response to covid 19, they must grapple with a harsh reality: a third of all U.S. coronavirus deaths occurred in just three states controlled exclusively by Democrats."

Those states are New York, New Jersey and California.

Those states have 20% of the U.S. population, and 33% of the covid 19 deaths.

Fox News reported the Republican National Convention will be upbeat.

The president told donors on Friday, "Where Joe Biden sees American darkness, I see American greatness."

That is a great message.

As they say at Instapundit, don't get cocky, kid.

But I have talked too many readers off the ledge these last 4 years not to be optimistic about this election. Not only are the 2016 supporters willing to crawl over glass under sniper fire to vote for him, but many who stayed at home are raring to go this time to make up for it.

Meanwhile, the quest for that Trumpkin for Biden continues. Maybe he's in the stable with that unicorn that Obama rode in on.
