"They should not force us into rolling blackouts just because they want to force us onto this green energy nonsense."

Good news; they didn't. It happened cuz, at a time when record heat created record demand, a plant or two went down. I'm not sure if lines were also damaged by the fires. I'm guessing the 470 MW plant is NG.

[1] CAISO declared a Stage 3 Electrical Emergency on August 15, due to increased demand and the “unexpected loss of a 470-megawatt (MW) power plant, and loss of nearly 1,000 MW of wind power.” See Press Release, CAISO, ISO Requested Power Outages Following Stage 3 Emergency Declaration; System Now Being Restored (Aug. 15, 2020), caiso.com.

"These are preventable problems"
Up until now, they've been prevented.

The public safety shut down last fall was embarrassing.
