8/28/2020 Contest update
(Contest YTD is calculated from 1/3/2020 close.)
The recent FDA and CDC actions as well as watching the video linked below make me wonder whether I should continue to consider science as the most relevant factor in my biotech investing decisions.

Meanwhile, it was a good week for the Contest median. It outperformed the NBI as well as SPSIBI, which was hurt by the NVAX decline. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 10.37% YTD (vs. up 8.24% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 12.44% YTD (vs. up 12.04% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 16.53% YTD (vs. up 19.16% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 29.65% YTD (vs. up 25.40% YTD a week ago).
JBOG’s portfolio continues its hold on first place with a 166.01% YTD gain. FILO’s portfolio, up 139.20% YTD, and OLIVIER’s portfolio, up 71.31% YTD, remain in second place and third place.
At Friday's close, 27 of the 42 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 20 beating the NBI and 16 still beating the SPSIBI.
The 197 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 21.94% with the median remaining in the red with a YTD loss of -2.10%.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None.
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits & mergers, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy a safe and relaxing final August weekend biotechies.
Peace & good health,
Bulba
