the narrative of modern systemic racism and white privilege."

That looks like a lot of fun. Who is Sandia? I will allocate a tiny amount of brain space to what is sure to be more ridiculous ideology.

I guess it means Sandia and others are trying to develop theories based on sun resistance via melanocyte production. Given the number of genetic variables in human DNA it must be a totally useless and bung-minded theory.. Since melanin is simply a function to manage sun exposure, the best the theory could do is maybe give some correlation with other variables.

For example, too much melanin will reduce vitamin D obtained from sun which leads to problems in metabolic processes such as covid protection, bone formation and whatever else vitamin D does. Since people can eat vitsminD from a factory, sunshine is irrelevant.

It's a better idea to measure the important variables directly rather than by correlation with an irrelevant variable.

Right now, on my back, I have stitches from excision of lesions caused by too much sun. I no longer think of a "healthy" tan. In the good old days a healthy tan meant lots of lovely vitamin D. Now I know to get vitamin D from a bottle.

My Made in China doctor makes good money from my youthful ignorance.

I will have a read to learn about the privilege of my melanin deficient skin. So far, the cash flow suggests a lack of privilege from melanin deficiency.

ASTM 4 looks like a more privileged skin colour. .... hmm that was from memory in oil business from 36 years ago. I forget which ASTM color/colour chart I was using then. Kind of brown. A quick click on Google did not give me what I remembered.
