How interesting about your African experience: what a great idea. And, oh, do I agree about AID.

For thos of us in America: How many places in the world have I seen US AID supplies, marked "Gift of the American People..not to be sold or bartered" sold in African and Asian marketplaces. Better, however, that some local merchant got it.... at the end of the food chain than the bureucrats who whacked most of the actual cash into their Luxembourg accounts, or Hong Kong savings plans.

By the way Mohan I was told when I was doing deals (or trying to do deals, actually) in Bombay that "S"..... the Chief Minister of Maharasthra was taking 10% of ever deal over a lakh, Rs. 1000,000 in the whole state.

Where has all that money made in a command economy gone? I mean your are talking about absolute truckloads of rupees here. Maybe a whole convoy. I suspect, for one, the Gulf. You've been in the middle east. Better not answer on second thought.
