"travel expenses as you described are not normally deductable against cap
gains.... unfortunately"

I thought I read somewhere in the IRS publications that while traveling to annual meetings is not deductible, expenses for traveling to meet with management of portfolio companies is. Isn't this one of the miscellaneous deductions that are limited by income levels, etc?
