Ken,

The fact that ZIP has been the greatest success in the history of retail computer peripherals suggests to me that people will ask for ZIP and will be willing to pay more for it. I think what is also likely to to happen is that people selling PC's without ZIP's will feel pressure to include ZIP whether they have to increase prices or not. The evolution of ZIP is occuring in exactly the same way as 5.25" went to 3.5". At first PC's shipped with both 3.5" and 5.25" and then the 5.25" was dropped. The same thing will happen with ZIP and 3.5". Also keep in mind that when 3.5" drives first came out they were probably as expensive to the OEM's as ZIP is now. I remember when the best price consumers could get for a bare 3.5" floppy drive was $100. Not to far off from the $139 ZIP of today.

People want ZIP because people asked for ZIP to be developed. I doubt that IOMG only included computer techie consumers in their marketing focus groups.

Yes, believe it or not, all PC's will ship with a bootable a: ZIP drive within 12-18 months. This is truly not difficult to see.
