Very difficult being a cop these days
Too many guns out there in hands of a lot of angry folks
Angry folks tend not to follow commands
Dim the light, bump up the adrenaline, and I would be afraid
There are bad as well as dumb cops, and self-policing by police essentially useless by definition as applied to any other sector / industry
Bad folks amongst the civil society shall never self-police, a given
So all sides as well as the middle either arms up, or suffer suppression, either way arms in the air to give up on the issue and let nature take course
Do not have ready solutions set
Process could be, exercise of empathy by society across all actors, including cops
Dialogue
Go at the issues at multiple levels in sustained time
But takes leadership unified, seeing a problem for a problem
Too much an ask in divisive political times
Kick can down the road until cities again burn
Suppress and kick, rinse, repeat, and folks arm up to compensate, etc etc
Until some point as yet undefined
Switzerland does not have as big a policing issue as most other societies
Same w/ CoVid in Switzerland
Suggesting no coincidence, and presence of common underlying reasons
Upbringing, education level, sharing of pie, growing the pie, ... etc etc ... all difficult for normal politicians to deliver to larger societies already slid down the slippery slopes over eons
Politicians hard pressed to admit they themselves are part of the problem
And mobs do not think, can be misled, and more often than not are. |
