Trump said he would disown Donald Trump Jr. if he joined the Army, book claims President Trump and his ex-wife Ivana Trump said they would disown and disinherit their son Donald Trump Jr. if he joined the Army, a new book by the president's niece claims.
"Donny was going to join the army or some bullshit like that, and Donald and Ivana told him if he did, they’d disown him in a second,” the book recounts the president's brother, Robert Trump, telling Mary L. Trump, the book's author.
A copy of the book, Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man, was obtained by the Washington Examiner. The memoir is due to be released next week.
Robert Trump made the comment as Mary Trump and her brother Fritz Trump, the children of Fred Trump Jr., who had died, sought to negotiate a claim to their grandfather Fred Trump Sr.'s estate, from which they had been largely disinherited.
Robert Trump was tasked with convincing his deceased brother's children to sign off on Fred Trump Sr.'s will, which awarded the two siblings a small fraction of the amount divided among each of the elder Trump's remaining children. The amount willed to Mary Trump and Fritz Trump totaled "less than a tenth of 1 percent," where had their father been alive, he would have received 20%, according to the book.
"Cash in your chips, Honeybunch," Robert Trump told Mary Trump "repeatedly," urging her to sign the will.
