J.F. You mentioned you like Synology hardware so this might interest you,

appuals.com

As I mentioned I have Qnap and I am very happy with the hardware and the customer tech support even 3 years after purchase.

A few lessons learned my machine is a TS-253A now discontinued
with a Intel Celeron N3150 quad-core 1.6GHz processor, dual-channel 4gb DDR3L-1600 RAM

Not exactly a screamer hardware wise!
I have tested this system by running multiple 720 P or higher, videos streaming internally on TV's , Ipad and PC and also streaming a video with my son in California all at the same time and saw no sluggishness.

I was very surprised and impressed.

My point is avoid buying more hardware "horse[power" than you will need.

The technology will continue to improve over time, so buy what works now and not worry about 5 years from now. I expect to upgrade my system maybe in 3-5 years from now.
