Chip, I visited Bangalore some 11 years ago. Back then, it was in fact the best Indian city I ever visited. I too saw quite a few tree line residential streets in the city. Beautiful weather. Nice and clean restaurants. In general cleaner streets. It was quite a contrast to Madras where I was living (then.) Now I don't know how Bangalore looks (I hear that things have deteriorated.) But I like Vizag (or Vishakhapatnam in AP) better than the then Bangalore.

Now Bangalore has grown so much that it competes with Bombay in many respects. Perhaps now it is more cosmopolitan than Bombay.

As per the youth...

During the Jan cultural festival at IIT Madras (Mardi Gras), I used to appreciate the beauty of those Bangalore gals. Well, being the conservative shy type I am, haven't had the guts to go out with any one. -g- I hear that they only got better now. What's the use. I am now here - married with children! sigh! -g-

-Mohan
