9/11/2020 Contest update
(Contest and Index YTDs are calculated from 1/3/2020 close.)
It’s “Ash Friday” in the Bay Area and yesterday was “Ash Thursday.” The Bay Area is where I live and looking out my window at a gray world motivated me to post the article link below, which is headlined: “Federal Report Warns of Financial Havoc From Climate Change”
nytimes.com
Meanwhile, at Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 5.96% YTD (vs. up 6.28% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 8.10% YTD (vs. up 9.35% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 11.66% YTD (vs. up 12.66% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 20.32% YTD (vs. up 25.41% YTD a week ago).
TRIL had a blowout week and so did Contest leader JBOG’s portfolio, which finished the week with a phenomenal 220.01% YTD gain. FILO’s portfolio, up 165.49% YTD, continued in second place and OLIVIER’s portfolio, up 89.61% YTD, moved into third place. Both portfolios also hold TRIL, which is now a 10-bagger for the year and the Contest’s YTD top gainer. TRIL is held by 5 of the 42 Contest portfolios
At Friday's close, 26 of the 42 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 19 beating the NBI and 14 beating the SPSIBI.
The 197 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 18.69% with the median still in the red with a YTD loss of -7.35%.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None.
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits & mergers, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy a safe and relaxing September weekend biotechies.
Peace & good health,
Bulba
