Hard to judge but as a general rule in this part of the country, a White Oak that big probably came from an
acorn buried in the late 1700's.... interesting it has made it through development of an urban area that goes
back to the early 1800's. Who knows how many birds, squirrels, raccoons, opossums and deer it has
fed over the years.... plus absorption of CO2 and exhaling oxygen.
I first started planting trees when I was 18. I can drive back to Missouri and see the first two.. cottonwoods
that are pretty good size now.
