If you think basing an opinion on facts pertaining not just to the economy but to specific groups of stocks is "pompous," call it what you like. Stock prices over the long term mirror economic growth, money supply, interest rates, and above all, corporate profits. The only reason the airline stocks have recovered somewhat from their recent low prices is due to government largesse. I don't believe that's a good reason for investing, and neither does Warren Buffett. Do you think he's also "pompous?" Art
