If people want to live in one of the world's largest cities with me in California, I think that's terrific. . In contrast, Mao's Great Leap Forward 'freed' hundreds of millions of city residents to live in the rural countryside at the point of a gun, and many saw that as "a big win". If people want to live on a farm and feel superior, it doesn't bother me. But the sort of authoritarian bullshit that forces people to live in rural areas is a betrayal of all decent human behaviour. Most humans have preferred to live in urban areas, when and where they've existed, for more than 10,000 years.
