It depends on what knowledge you deem important..
I can throw a knife, grow things, eat wild stuff because I know what to eat.. yet that might not be an IQ booster.. jut a life saver :)
I can mostly fix my car, build a house or anything smaller.. ..I am a throwback I guess.. formal education gave me NONE of that..
I believe this .. (the minute we specialize.. we become redundant)
