It's also legal to change the number of justices on the court.
I love how the Democrats are floating this idea as a politically viable one.

As soon as Trump decides, "You know what? That's a great idea!" the Democrats will start weeping and gnashing teeth.

Hypocrites calling hypocrites hypocrites. That's all this is.

No precedent is being broken in nominating a replacement for a vacant Supreme Court justice position during an election year. That's the bottom line.
