his go it alone attitude for the USA in a pandemic is not smart
It's not even his "go at it alone" attitude that is the problem here, because America could indeed "go at it alone." We have the resources and the capability to do just that.

The problem is that Trump is in utter denial over the whole pandemic. You can't simply reopen an economy by pretending the coronavirus isn't out there.

And yeah, the chances of dying from it are like 0.5%, but that still represents over a million lives lost. Getting to "herd immunity" isn't a viable strategy. Period.

And yes, the human toll of shutting down an economy is significant, but of all nations in the developed world, we are perhaps the best equipped to handle an economic downturn. You can't say the same thing about Brazil or India, for example. Even Russia can't afford such a hit to their economy, even though their numbers are lower than ours.

As for Trump, I thought his re-election was in the bag this year. Now I believe he's going to lose. And it's all because of his abysmal response to the coronavirus.
