Wharfie,
In 35 years of respiratory therapy, I rarely saw hospital staff get seasonal problems, let alone die.
That's the thing about these statistics that are being thrown around. The conspiracy theorists and the know-it-alls claim that the death rate from COVID-19 isn't that much higher than seasonal flu.

But people who work in hospitals report that they have NEVER seen as many flu patients in the past as they see COVID-19 patients today.

It's likely that the flu death counts from the past are wildly inaccurate. Indeed, few have closely tracked the death rates from influenza compared to how closely we're monitoring COVID-19 death rates.

It could also be that the deaths being counted as "seasonal flu-related" weren't really caused by seasonal flu alone, but instead were caused by the flu complicating pre-existing conditions.

All objective measures point to COVID-19 being worse than seasonal flu. Death rates, the way COVID-19 attacks the body and the way it triggers an autoimmune response, how contagious it is and how deceptive the 0.5% estimated death rate can be, etc.

But of course, objective truth has taken a back seat these days to postmodernism. Truth is relative, and even the right-wingers on this thread aren't immune to warping reality to suit their political beliefs.
