Twenty years ago my uncle came home from the Royal Canadian Legion at 1:00 a.m. and burned his cabin down with him still in it. His 97 year old sister warned us that was the result of his smoking and drinking. I recall one time when we were teenagers he was drinking heavily and we were scared he would start his wood stove and burn his cabin down. We started his wood stove for him, put his coveralls on and then nailed him to the floor, next morning we went to see if he was ok and he said, “thank God you come to check on me boys, I’m paralyzed and can’t move a muscle.”
