Only wonder to TJ response, he is a strong believer that Hong Kong will remain an independent entity from mainland China but based on recent friction between India and China, the pressure of China on other countries within the UK commonwealth and the recent decision of UK, France and Germany related to the South China See and China aspiration of territorial expanses into places that do not belong to China I am doubtful if Hong Kong is a safe place for democracy oriented people. Unfortunate target killings in China are not as advertised in the Western World like those of Russia. Reading TJ mother book "The Return to the Middle Kingdom" by TJ mother Yuang Tsung Chen, gave me an insight of the very diverse and conflicting ethnic groups within China, in a way quite similar to Russia
