(1) Fair to say that most Americans in HK have feelings ranging from disappointment to despondency, irrespective of political bent
(1-i) the coconut's school have mostly American students, with the coconut being the exception, especially as she has no US national affiliation, no sibling-preference (she entered the school several years before the Jack got in), and no corporate debenture (loans US companies make to the school to guarantee a spot for kids of the company's rotating expat staff).
the school broadcast the debate live into the class rooms yesterday, and afterwards had invited Zoom speakers involved with the campaigns of both parties to do dog & pony shows
the school's mostly American educators and students were not impressed I am told
(1-ii) in my Zoom group calls earlier this morning, and now, with any American participation, none, American or otherwise, were enthusiastic about what yesterday's show demo-ed
(1-iii) those calls w/o American participation are replete with stories of American friends prepping for what comes next
(2) None of the above has any political bent. For the calls involving Americans of differing bents, the two 'sides' actually are in agreement, that events are plucked
All incredible 2020.
(3) In the meantime I went to the computer shop and exchanged some spare option walk-around credit for a geewhizbangogwhoawee Razer game machine, as the wellness adviser says I needed something non cerebral to balance my option computer gaming.
I asked if Modern Combat and Wolfenstein qualified, and answer was thumbs-up
So, computer gaming interspersed w/ eating, sleep, swimming, reading, educating, and more computer gaming. 2020 is good so far, and 2021 looking promising, but unlike 2000 and 2008, this time I am on fast fibre optics internet. Fantastic, and forced by CoVid to be full-time, even better. |
