Ana died last fall
or
A new cockpaoo

Ana died last year in the fall, it was quick, she was sixteen and a half years old.
She had difficulty in the evening and was gone the next morning.
I still miss her a lot, I still miss Honey as well, both first generation cockapoos with spaniel coats.
These little dogs look like miniature golden retrievers.
I sometimes joked with people that Ana was a miniature golden - "Just look" I would say pointing at her.
Ana was a wonderful dog, a loyal friend and a true champion in my mind.
So.
I decided in early February to get another cockapoo.
I went over a lot of websites looking for a breeder.
I selected one and made my application with a letter explaining my request.
It was a breeder called Sandy Pines Puppies, right here in Alberta.
I googled cockpaoos and they were right there, north of Edmonton, about 6 hours for us.
The breeder contacted me back and asked for my phone number for the waiting list.
I advised I had included it in the original request but I gave it to her a second time.
They also advised they had a litter coming in April and they had a female in the litter.
Then the covid hit and everyone wanted a dog.
I wrote the breeder again in the spring hoping for my puppy, I got no reply at all.
On the website I saw they raised the price from $1000.00 to $2500.00
I saw on the website they were flooded with requests and the summer litters were gone??
When I was able to get a response again it was almost at the end of August.
I think they answered my text when they did because the rush was over.
They pretended they had no idea who I was.
They flat out refused to acknowledge their own emails they had sent.
They blamed me for not badgering them.
They whined about getting two hundred requests between February and the end of March.
I told them to check, I was on their list before they got those calls.
I told them about theiur email and them saying the April litter had a "female in there".
At that point they offered to sell me "some other breeder's puppy" for $2500.00.
I was shocked disappointed and surprised.
These are incredibly ignorant business owners, that is what.,
Refusing to acknowledge your own emails? How dishonourable is that?
To insist on almost tripling the price, pandemic gouging is what it is, clearly.

I haven't gotten on another waiting list yet.
Having to deal with dishonourable people wasn't my intention in setting out to find a new cockapoo puppy.
I simply cannot believe that someone would choose to run their business that way.
That they would disavow their own written words and do so for a chance to act as a profiteer.
Cockapoo puppies will be available again, buyers will be harder to find.
They said say that nine out of ten buyers were not really serious, they will have trouble finding buyers.
I was really disappointed with SandyPinesPuppies.com and that is a fellow Albertan unfortunately.
I got Ana from a breeder in Langley, BC. Honey was a from a Calgary breeder, maybe Saskatchewan next.
Good breeders are hard to find, finding a dud, a cheater, a mill owner or a liar is as easy as pie.
