I quizzed my parents about believing that stuff, and they both admitted they didn't. Mom liked it because it was a chance to dress up and be social. Dad went to make mom happy and seem like an upright citizen. I went because they made me, until I was about 14, and I started not going. I imagine there are vast numbers of 'Christians' just like them.
