U.S. jobs rose by a less-than-expected 661,000 in September

Nonfarm payrolls rose by 661,000 in September, less than the 800,000
increase expected by economists surveyed by Dow Jones, reports
CNBC’s Jeff Cox.

In the final jobs report before the November election, the Labor Department
said the unemployment rate was 7.9%, better than the 8.2% estimate.
