I think the reason is that they will take it all the way to the supreme court no matter the result and they will not be able to steal the election with only a 5:3 advantage considering that at least 2 of their own republican SC justices have not been yes men in every decision. And they view Amy Coney Barrett a 100% guaranteed yes conservative vote.
