In most elections Democrats win far more votes for the House, Senate, and Governorships, but we seldom get control. The concept of majority rule is built into the Constitution and it doesn't exist today.
There appear to be far better systems in the world than our democracy. It's crippled. Legislation is supposed to be debated in the committees in both chambers, then passed in both, then compromise made, then revotes done on the compromises, then sent to the president. None of these things happen anymore. Now, Pelosi meets with ONE person in the White House, they work out a deal, it goes to the Senate and they rubber stamp it.
There's nothing left of our constitution. Nothing. We have a hollow system of checks and balances that is about as worthless as it can get.
Another example. Dems subpoenaed Trump and others in the White House. They refused to answer legal subpoenas. In normal times, it would go straight to the Supreme Court and they would decide within days. But this time, they let it go through the appeals process until AFTER the trial. Then, they ruled Congress can sue, which it already had done. Where's the decision which forces a criminal to answer for his crimes?
I know this is beyond the Electoral College discussion but if anyone thinks the US still has a Constitution it's because they have no idea what's going on.
Biden MUST pack the Supreme Court to fix it. |
