I first heard of this stock on CNBC when they had an analyst on- I wish I knew who he was- and they asked him what would be a safe stock for 1998, one which has no Asian influence. He replied Vans. Does anyone know who this guy was? I researched the company, and it looked good, so I bought in. Two brokerage firms downgraded the stock, and estimated earnings to be 12% lower than earlier estimates- and the stock tanks 30%??? I'm going to break my 10% loss rule here, and I'm going to hang on. This scenario has played itself out with me before. Last july I bought a bunch of DSH- Designer Holdings- at 7. The very next day, the stock tanked 30% on news much the same as we see here. I paniced like everybody else, and I sold at a huge 24 hour loss. DSH is now over 10. I think this thing is going to play itself out. The price just does not match the fundamentals.
