The pe of unifab is 13 and not 18,its profits are growing by 25% a year it has no debt.the front page of the business section of the lafayette daily advertiser today featured an interview with daily berard .he had a telephone conference yesterday .currently he is really depressed about the price of unifab,he was quoted a saying that business was extremely good and they were turning away business, he felt that a good price for the stock was 30$ .when the price of unifab was 40$ there was a story about daily berard looking extatic.i dont really care what it does over the short term and whether it does or doesnt go up and down with the rest of the sector,it is a solid company ,with no debt ,growing at twice the level of its pe with 4 years worth of orders,if you cant see that as a good deal then you dont deserve to own the stock .
interestingly i mentioned a local bank stock as a great alternative to unifab when unifab was 35$ namely mid south bank, since mentioned it has gone up 20% ,it reported its profits today up 40% from last year ,has a pe of around 22 and is another great way to participate in the acadiana economy if you dont want a volatile stock like unifab.it will probably not go up as much as unifab over the next couple of years but should do very well ,its only drawback is a small float .i own that as well ,it is up 100% over the last year and probably wont do as well this year but should go up another 20-30% .i will be very surprised if unifab doesnt go up 50%plus in the next year .arh
