If you look through the history of Chief Justices, his tenure is one of the longer ones so far. There were a couple that were quite long.

It would be interesting (assuming Biden wins and the Dems take the Senate) if Roberts were then cut a deal with Biden to retire, thus stopping a court packing exercise, while getting the court back to 5:4, but still for Conservatives. The remaining 5 conservatives of course are further right than 5:4 with Roberts being one however.

But its an interesting question.
