Brian;

What you may be looking for is a way to capitalize on an industry - or segment. I have found that finding the companies which are responsible for the (often) not so glamorous side of a profitable market segment.

Examples -

IO They are premier (and only independant) maker of seismologic aquisition devices for the oil and natural gas industry. It is ranked 28 out of the 100 fastest growing companies in the current (Oct. 14) issue of Fortune) with an annual growth rate of 70%.

ANDW World-wide provider of satellite and cellular antenna, towers, environmental vaults, etc. The high margin stuff (no phones) Don't forget, most of the world does not have copper to the door. Consistantly turns 30+% annual growth.

CSCC Backbone switches for the Internet. you can read all about this one right here.

PXR Big supplier of bar codes and scanning systems for just about every industry. Crucial to maintaining control over inventory, productivity, etc. stock splits 5for4 just about every year.

None of this is insider stuff. It's basic Peter Lynch. Sort of a be aware of what's going on. Not how to make it today or tomorrow - but how to invest it over a longer term.
