Maybe I'm a little idealistic but I don't think our founders would borrow trillions and give it to the rich. They knew things weren't free and they found ways to pay for what they wanted. Republicans (and I mean every god damn one of them) can't do basic math anymore. This is why we ignore them. Trying to fix people who are this broken isn't worth our time. Our founders wanted a country at any cost, even if it meant slavery but they didn't think bankrupting us with tax cuts, spending, and economic collapses would lead to prosperity.
