Not True!! Zenith's projection model is very sleek and stylish. I was right there with it in person. The HDTV's are slightly wider due to the 16x9 screen aspect. Sony, I believe will be late releasing their model. I suggest refraining from any suppositions until we actually have TV's in showrooms. Who knows what the final pricing will be. The manufacturers are deliberately starting with the large home theater versions to provide the American consumer with the most "blown away" experience possible. The bars and CE stores will be the first place to see HDTV and the companies want consumers to see an awesome sight. If they release smaller screen in the beginning the first impression won't be as strong.

There are 18 different DTV formats. ZE gets a royalty based on the transmission standard not the format. The de facto HDTV standard is the 1080i.

I should not have to argue about what the press writes. They are sensationalistic scavengers. They have no clue what is going on. They write what seems popular. They keep beating a dead horse with the pricing issue and it is bullshit especially since the first versions are going to be top of the line home theater models already over $5k without HDTV. The prices will drop rapidly in 1999. Remember when VCR's were first released. How about CD players? Pretty expensive and esoteric for the first 6-12 months. 'nuff said on that subject.
