I think I can do this because as thread leader I have certain powers. One of which is to decide what's ontopic. Whether anyone cares what I declare is debatable, I understand that. And actually, since I know nothing about Santayana, I may have trouble participating, although look how much I've written already. Really-I had a whole bunch of thoughts fly through my head when I read your post--like this discussion Paul and I had about how our brains are much more of a chemical soup than we probably want to know. But it's past bedtime and my chemically controlled brain is shortcircuiting after a meeting up at school with the AP Physics teacher and 50 parents who want to know why the highest grade on the semester exam was a 45. (Our son had the 45; I was proud) Do not mess with yuppie parents. Scary people. Tomorrow I'll try to redeem myself by saying something intelligent, but I probably won't.
