Lastly, there is Intel. With their i740, they seem poised to take the graphics chip market by storm. I presume they will hold the price advantage, but what about performance?

The Intel chip is a low end, OEM (I assume) targeted solution. 3DFX is targeting the Hard-core 3D market and the Intel is more 'just a 3D chipset'. It will compete more on the level of the S3 which is only arguably a 3D chip (In my mind).
