Michael,
Glad to see you are back. Two questions. Which other threads do you post? I would enjoy your opinions about those situations.
Is your argument about Atmel that they in a part of the chip business where better technology will not command better margins when cheaper will do just fine, as opposed to Intel's apparent monopoly?

Atmel's strategy is to climb so far ahead of the competition that it will be able to command higher margins for its products. You seem to disagree with that approach. Except for last year, that approach has worked for atmel, when the company kept confounding analysts with record earnings and margins. What do you think changed that? Commodization? How much will the new Fab plant in France help in continuing this strategy?

Also, a number of theif managers left their Colorado plant to go to work for Vitesse down the street. Atmel is suing Vitesse and disloyal managers for a billion. Care to comment on the merits of the case, in which Atmel claims that the managers left with proprietary process plans, ala GM vs. VW. Is this a serious indication of Atmel's weakness? Vitesse and other chip companies are bouncing back just fine, while Atmel continues to sink in the waves.

What's your 6 month and 12 month target prices for atmel?

Thanks

Dan Dwyer
