TJOH: I do hope you don't mind if I take a stab at this.

<what is your motivation to do good for humankind>

Enlightened self-interest. All of us could have our circumstances change - it is good to have a world where there might be some compassion for one's change of fortunes, should that happen.

God (IMVHO) is simply an unnecessary facet for it. If it helps someone be more content and satisfied with their life (and studies show it does for some people) then great. But it is completely unnecessary for a compassionate moral philosophy.

I could provide my logic for why being an agnostic is (again, IMHO) the most logically defensible position - but I'll save that for another post since I accidentally deleted what I wrote. Divine interventions? No - nothing so supernatural. I navigated to Wikipedia for a reference - and poof.

It was too long anyway.
