Planning on Faking an Election Result ?

I see an awful lot of "fake-ness" in everything, now... the impact of that becoming more palpable by the day.

Fake news, certainly, a big part of it all along.... CNN, as an example, once seen as a flagship brand and pioneer in new media... now is reduced to... making things up... quite literally and unapologetically. It's mostly an embarrassment... including in so many people still pretending it matters what they say, now... like it actually did 30 years ago or more ? No one watches them now ? Those who do... watch it more like Jerry Springer... just to see what outrage occurs next ? Amplify the same perspective through the same experience with a dozen other names, on the left, and with Fox News less and less on the right ?

There is a clear trend, or two apparent... call them "concern" and "experience" ?

January 2018: Nearly 70 percent of people are worried about fake news. Almost two-thirds (63 percent) said the average person does not know how to tell good journalism from rumor or falsehoods.

April 2018: 77 percent say major news outlets report fake news (Politico)

October 2018: 57% say they have seen fake news

June 2019 86 percent of internet users admit to being duped by fake news

In the battle swinging between "all of the people, some of the time", and "some of the people, all of time"... it appears great capital has been expended, most of it quite wastefully, while torching trust and burning hard won institutional reputations like so much confetti, right along with the bridges...

Nov 2019: ‘No One Believes Anything’: Voters Worn Out by a Fog of Political News in a story still dripping with its own venomous bias, the NYT gives a telling takeaway or two... those unable to trust their sources, either do more research themselves to figure things out, or they opt out of participation, and for most... they suggest 47%... that more likely means opting out.

Democrats will be quick to tell you... they need higher turnout to win... and are willing to fake it if required.

Republicans will be quieter in pointing out... substantial numbers of Democrats traditional core voters are voting Republican... including a majority of Latino and Asian voters choosing Trump, along with meaningful defections occurring among black voters, who are no longer being cowed by Biden's "you ain't black if" crap. Black voters, while overwhelming in support of BLM, are also shockingly LEAST likely to support "defund the police" schemes... as they know they will be the most impacted by the removal of police protection. Not what the media wants you to hear ? The registration advantage, perennially favoring Democrats... has now swung in favor of Republicans... a monumental shift you also won't hear about... along with the numbers of those who are changing parties, leaving the Democrats to join Trump's party.

Perhaps we're now approaching a denouement in a still expanding media led disinformation effort that is demanding ever more while winning diminishing returns. I judge we're rapidly nearing "some of the people, all of the time"... not leaving too much reason to care, in context of elections, about those few who are, and will always be... easily mislead, always deluded...

Fake outrage, whipped up based on fake hordes of white supremacists invading our cities... ? LOL! Because... racism is so much more real, now.... has so much more real impact on people now... than it did from 1865 to 1965 ? It has a strong whiff of the theater... fake buttered popcorn, sweat... and bovine excrement. BLM... as a mantra... has broad support, still, because Americans, while credulous, are mostly not racists. BLM... as a political movement... still not benefiting much from adopting our basic cultural norms as a popular mantra... while BLM's repugnant actions are increasingly seen as in conflict with those same American ideals.

Agast at the organized violence... Americans have turned against BLM/Antifa...

Now the NBA are pointing out... based on their own polls taken in the form of attendance receipts and TV viewership.... money talks.... they will NOT be taking knees, or wearing arm bands, and such in future.

Democrats hitched their wagon to SUPPORTING this Antifa/BLM trainwreck, pretty firmly, earlier this year... persisting even as the riots increased in intensity... pausing to reconsider only when BLM was seen organizing the executions of innocent bystanders in the streets.

Now they want credit for "reeling it back" a bit at that point... after fanning the flames all summer long ?

June 2020: Police Reform Is Popular. Rioting Is Not.

Sept 2020: Black Lives Matter support drops 12 percent over summer, poll finds

The mind bender, for many, will be in reconciling the polls... as the numbers require "apparently" conflicting choices... as the media presents them... that mostly don't really conflict. People support BLM as a concept, not a political movement, they support police reform, and support the protests... and support the police, including in how they're handling the riots, but do not support de-funding the police. Makes perfect sense (until you let the media present it) showing that people do not support violence, by the police, or against the police... against BLM, or by BLM... or against anyone else. Simple. Opposing violence wins polls by LARGE margins.... and it always has... and that is not going to change with the result of the election ?

Who is it... that wants people thinking something else is true... with an ominous inevitability about it ?

I don't think you ignore those who are openly advocating for violence, or fanning the flames, whatever the reason. It does appear that's happening...

Given that big majorities agree on things like police reform, including the specifics... why do we get rioting in the streets, and a perception of a systemic and widespread opposition to reform, instead of coordinated action making reform happen now ?

Democrats do still trust their media sources a lot more than others trust the media.... even while most agree that it is the media who are fostering social divisions, on purpose ?

Trump should make that case directly to the voters over the next week... that the media are fostering division, even on issues, like race, where we broadly agree on things... and he should tie action accelerating police reform to the negotiations on the stimulus bill Pelosi is slow rolling.
