Everything is political. Herd immunity can be reached naturally or via vaccine. 1%-2% of those infected naturally to reach natural herd immunity will possibly die. But every vaccine also comes with adverse events and an unknown number of vaccine recipients will die, possibly thousands out of mass vaccination of millions. Either way it is a statistical fact that many, many people are going to die.
