8.2 is a very high rating on IMDB. Columbo deserves it. The series is a great survivor. Free on Prime, but with ads. Even with that, the one advantage Prime would have over TV showings of these reruns is that on TV they chop scenes to squeeze more ads in the hour and a half. One egregious example was in the very first one with Gene Barry. A small but crucial few moments were deleted concerning a handkerchief that had been carelessly left behind at the scene of the murder. Boy, that piece of editing got under my skin. It's one of the many reasons standard TV is on its way out.
