Since 31 December 2019 and as of 24 October 2020, 42 279 076 cases of COVID-19 (in accordance with the applied case definitions and testing strategies in the affected countries) have been reported, including 1 145 314 deaths.

Cases have been reported from:

Africa: 1 698 118 cases; the five countries reporting most cases are South Africa (712 412), Morocco (190 416), Egypt (106 230), Ethiopia (92 229) and Nigeria (61 882).

Asia: 12 884 003 cases; the five countries reporting most cases are India (7 814 682), Iran (556 891), Iraq (445 949), Bangladesh (396 413) and Indonesia (381 910).

America: 19 543 512 cases; the five countries reporting most cases are United States (8 493 669), Brazil (5 353 656), Argentina (1 069 355), Colombia (998 942) and Peru (883 116).

Europe: 8 112 657 cases; the five countries reporting most cases are Russia (1 480 646), Spain (1 046 132), France (1 041 075), United Kingdom (830 998) and Italy (484 869).

Oceania: 40 090 cases; the five countries reporting most cases are Australia (27 484), French Polynesia (5 797), Guam (4 141), New Zealand (1 934) and Papua New Guinea (583).

Other: 696 cases have been reported from an international conveyance in Japan.

Deaths have been reported from:

Africa: 40 915 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are South Africa (18 891), Egypt (6 176), Morocco (3 205), Algeria (1 897) and Ethiopia (1 400).

Asia: 230 142 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are India (117 956), Iran (31 985), Indonesia (13 077), Iraq (10 513) and Turkey (9 658).

America: 623 264 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are United States (223 995), Brazil (156 471), Mexico (88 312), Peru (34 033) and Colombia (29 802).

Europe: 249 956 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are United Kingdom (44 571), Italy (37 059), Spain (34 752), France (34 508) and Russia (25 525).

Oceania: 1 030 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are Australia (905), Guam (69), New Zealand (25), French Polynesia (20) and Papua New Guinea (7).

Other: 7 deaths have been reported from an international conveyance in Japan.
