A company receives an order for shipment in Q2 timeframe but it is not a firm order. The shipping company says it can schedule the shipment then. The ordering company must inform the shipping company by a certain date or the order will become firm. The ordering company informs the shipping company that it wants delivery in Q3 timeframe - so it has pushed out its order from Q2 to Q3. All of this has no effect on income statement except that the revenue will be recognized in Q3 when the product ships as opposed to Q2.
