"Weekly Average of Virus Infections Hit New High"

Doing the peaking duck...

More on Climate/Covid DenialOctober 26, 2020
UPDATE: Trump today in Pennsylvania tripling down on conspiracy theory.
In a pandemic, this is homicidal.

Above, as I’ve mentioned before, Trump is now doubling down on his “It’s a hoax” meme, asserting that the virus will disappear from the media after the election.

Below, in a charge that climate scientists know well, Trump asserts that Physicians are ginning up Covid hysteria to make more money. Further down, Emergency Physicians respond.

The parallels between the response to Covid-19 and society’s response over 30 years to climate change, have only become more starkly clear and brutally ironic in recent days.

American College of Emergency Physicians:

WASHINGTON, D.C.—In response to President Trump’s baseless claims about physicians miscounting deaths due to COVID-19, the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) released the following statement:

“On behalf of the nation’s emergency physicians, ACEP is appalled by President Trump’s reckless and false assertions that physicians are overcounting deaths related to COVID-19. Emergency physicians and other health care workers have risked their lives day in and day out for almost a year battling the greatest public health crisis in a generation—all while watching countless patients die alone, going to work without sufficient protection equipment, and struggling with crushing anxiety about getting sick or spreading the virus to their loved ones.

To imply that emergency physicians would inflate the number of deaths from this pandemic to gain financially is offensive, especially as many are actually under unprecedented financial strain as they continue to bear the brunt of COVID-19. These baseless claims not only do a disservice to our health care heroes but promulgate the dangerous wave of misinformation which continues to hinder our nation’s efforts to get the pandemic under control and allow our nation to return to normalcy.”

RogueRocket:

President Donald Trump is doubling down on accusations that healthcare workers are stealing medical supplies amid an unprecedented country-wide supply shortage.

All over the country, healthcare workers who are already on the front lines risking their lives do not have enough masks, gloves, gowns, and other personal protective equipment (PPE) that is crucial for safety.

Recent reports have found that healthcare workers have resorted to reusing and sterilizing masks meant for single use. In some places, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has even told healthcare providers to use homemade gear like bandanas or scarves “if necessary.”

Pictures have been circulating the internet of medical staff wearing trash bags and homemade masks.
